Nutella combos for a Nutella lover

Pretzels: This is the tastiest and least messy Lion’s Den Nutella treat. Simply buy a pack of pretzels and dip into the magical Nutella jar. Make sure to get a large glob on the pretzel though. You need equal parts Nutella and pretzel to fully experience this perfect paring of sweet and salty. It will be difficult to stop after only one, so make sure you have a friend to help eat the entire bag of pretzels.

Chocolate muffin: They say that first is the worst and second is the best, but let’s be honest – that’s not true, as Nutella on a chocolate muffin is pretty lackluster when compared to the delicious Nutella pretzels. Since the muffin is already chocolate flavored, it may seem that spreading a chocolate spread onto the muffin would be a chocolate overload, however, it’s not. The muffins do not taste very good on their own, so spreading Nutella all over it is actually an improvement. Personally, Nutella on chocolate cupcakes is a much tastier combination. Although having a chocolate taste, there is enough difference in flavor between Nutella and regular chocolate to make quite a tasty spread for the cupcakes.

Jalapeno chips: Nutalla on jalapeno chips is a classic example of, “it’s not bad, but it’s not good.” I went into this combination with high hopes, suspecting that the spiciness of the jalapeno and the sweetness of Nutella might complement each other. Unfortunately, the combination was just kind of weird. The first bite is the strangest; for a moment, your tongue works through the Nutella to get to the chip, then suddenly a wave of spiciness hits as you try to eat the sticky glob of Nutella. Imagine eating a peanut butter sandwich without milk, only now the peanut butter is a little spicy. The combination wasn’t repulsive by any means, but it just wasn’t very tasty.

Sour sticks: Now here’s a combination I wouldn’t recommend to anyone. It’s a classic example of, “it’s not good, it’s just bad.” I tried both red and green sour sticks, and the green was the least distasteful. As I was spreading the Nutella onto the sour stick, I was hoping for a flavor similar to a dirt cup. For those who have missed out, a dirt cup is a delicious mixture of chocolate pudding, Oreo cookie crumbles, and gummy worms. The sour sticks and Nutella, unfortunately, did not taste anything like a dirt cup. I think the best way to describe this combination is to compare it to your ninth birthday party when everyone drank 7-Up with their piece of chocolate cake. Sour sticks and Nutella are pretty much in that same vein.
