Zip lining at NWTrek

When the occasional monotony of everyday life becomes absolutely unbearable, there is only one thing to do – zip lining. Now don’t be too incredulous; believe it or not, fun and affordable zip lining does indeed exist locally. The area’s own Northwest Trek has been offering four thrilling zip lining/challenge courses through the tree canopy for about a year, and each course is more than just a simple zip line, but also requires true physical agility.

My own personal adventure started at the foot of a 30 foot rock wall, and once I reached the top, I would face the first zip line of the course. The rest of the course had different sections of zip line separated by challenging barriers that had to be walked over or climbed through, such as giant nets, balance beams, tight ropes and swinging log bridges.

Although it wasn’t unmanageably difficult, it certainly worked up a sweat, making it a fun and fulfilling challenge for any active teenager. Never did I think I’d be walking over a high-wire tightrope 55 feet above the ground or zipping through the coniferous forest canopy at 33 feet per second. And once a group is done with the thrilling course, they can easily take advantage of all the other attractions the park has to offer, such it’s many naturalistic exhibits that house animals such as bears, wolves and other native creatures.

But for anyone looking for an exhilarating and active way to spend a summer afternoon, I would absolutely recommend paying a visit to Northwest Trek and taking advantage of its Zip Wild Adventure courses. It is certainly out of the ordinary from the everyday, and will undoubtedly be an adventure to remember.
