It’s that holiday time of the year

It’s the holiday season! Whether you plan on celebrating Christmas, Hannakuh, The New Year’s, or not, the end of another year is something to celebrate. Christmas being one of the biggest holidays of the year, here’s some ideas on what to do with friends and family on such a big occasion!

Holiday Light Trips are such an adaptable and fun experience to spend quality time with family and friends. While walking around in a fairly quiet environment, which allows for talking and close bonding. On the other hand, you can do it from the comfort of your own car while driving round a trail. It is also such a great picture taking spot for spice of fun and festivity. For walking, Zoolights is one of the most popular locations. For a drive-in experience, Fantasy Lights in Spanaway is tried and true.

Watching Christmas Movies is one of the coziest activities in the Winter. After an introduction to school and a chilly autumn season, staying in during Christmas break with Hot Coco in hand to watch a great movie is the exact break that many students need. IMDb has an awesome list of “The Top 100 Christmas movies of all-time.” Dust off old DVDs or log into Netflix and find an annual Christmas watch favorite, or try something new.

Construct a Gingerbread House with friends or family. With a store-bought kit, or made from scratch, open up your creative side and make a gingerbread house. It’s also a great excuse to have candy and sweets lying around to eat. As a plus, they can serve as festive decorations in the house. If you don’t feel like leaving a house around, make gingerbread cookies or use fun cookie cutter shapes that fit the holiday vibe.

Ice Skating Days can be super fun when spent with loved ones at the rink. Close locations like Point Ruston and Sprinker have good rates for renting skates. Oftentimes, rinks will play festive music in the background and a nice ambience with dimmed lights. There’s also normally snacks and drinks available there too for when you feel like a warm cup of Hot .

Christmas Gift Exchanges
have a number of spin offs. Whether it’s Secret Santa, White Elephant, Yankee Swap, and more. While not spending too much money, by setting a price point, you can give little items to people you care about. Secret Santa is for a closer group of people who know one another well. That way you aren’t stuck trying to find a personalized gift for someone you don’t know well. White Elephant is perfect for groups that aren’t as close. That way you can buy more generic gifts but still make someone’s day.

All in all, the end of 2023 is coming to an end. While it’s a bitter-sweet moment, fun activities and the extra time with friends and family makes all of the celebrating worth it. So with festive music, lights, and decorations in the background, cherish the moments that you have on break with loved ones.
