As flowers begin to bloom and the warm breeze travels through the air, it’s a sign that spring has arrived, bringing with it a traditional holiday – Easter, a celebration of renewal and hope, a time that brings people together, whether through faith or family traditions.
Easter is one of the most important holidays in the Christian tradition, celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the hope of new life. It marks the end of Lent and is often seen as a time or renewal. For many people, it’s a time to reconnect with their spirituality and faith.
“[Easter] connects to my spiritual life through having more time to acknowledge or reflect everything that Jesus has done for us and then practicing all those electricians and values from the full sides of my family,” said junior Alanis Colby Sanchez.
Similarly, junior Samantha Averna shared, ”Easter is remembering how I’m able to live this life because of [Jesus’] sacrifice and giving up something as little as sweets or technology is nothing compared to his sacrifice for us.”
For many students, Easter is an opportunity to slow down and enjoy quality time with family. Some attend church services together, while others gather for a family meal or being involved in fun traditions like hunting eggs.
Sophomore Hannah Yeam shared her family traditions on this special day, saying, “We go to family mass at 9:30 a.m and then from there we do Easter egg hunt at my grandparents’ house, have lunch there, and then they conclude with prayer and dinner.”
These simple yet unforgettable moments create lasting memories. Whether it’s a quiet day at home or a joyful gathering, Easter becomes a special time that brings families closer and leaves behind memorable experiences. “[My favorite Easter memory] is when I woke up on a Saturday morning and my dad dressed in pink down the stairs with the sign ‘There are 15 eggs around the house. You have 15 minutes’,” said Averna.
This traditional holiday may mean different things to different people, but for many, it’s a time to pause, reconnect with their faith, and enjoy the company of loved ones. For some, it’s not only a holiday but also a chance to make memories, get away from stress, and welcome the season of spring with joy and renewal.
