Here it is, 2026. As the new year comes, new yea’s resolutions are created, people change up their lifestyle, new products are released, and old things come to an end. The same thing goes for fashion. As 2025 slowly fades away, so do fashion trends. And as 2026 grows, fashion trends do as well.
The common saying for trends are “oh, those are so in” or “those are so last season.” What does that mean for the 2026 season? What are our ins and outs of this new year? From asking many people around Bellarmine what their ins and outs are for 2026, we wonder if this truly will be the trend this year.
Junior Bea Navarro said, “I would say what I’m keeping in 2026 is polka dots and definitely bringing in more denim on denim.” “I also really like stripes. What I want to keep out is definitely bows. I think it’s really old and not cute.” As we saw bows were a major trend in the 2024-2025 season. However, they apparently are not “so in” for 2026.
Something that we are seeing a lot recently are headbands and cute socks. Accessorizing our outfits is what is “so in” for 2026. From senior Mackenzie Doherty, she states, “I think headbands should be in and platform Converse should be out.”
What we see that has been developing is the more unique and free-people pattern clothes. Having different, basic clothes is what has dominated and influenced the fashion companies. Senior Kiley Hentshell states, “I think platform sandals should be in and all fast fashion should be out.” The new thing is no longer buying from companies who sell the same clothes just in slightly different forms, with cheap materials and last season designs. We are now thrifting more, buying unique patterns, supporting small businesses, and also matching sets are “so in.”
Stripes, polka dots, cute socks, sandals, matching sets, unique styles of clothing and so much more. 2026 is headed for a new fashion route of unique style, color and personality tied in with a simple and classic look.
As we get further into 2026, the fashion trends and styles will start to solidify. Maybe our predictions will come true. So, that raises the question, what will be the ins and outs of the future 2026?
