Students return to in-person finals
After almost two years of online school Bellarmine students are preparing for in-person finals. Although students are happy to finally be back in school the idea of testing in-person after so long online can seem daunting. Bellarmine students are nervous for the upcoming finals week but that is always true of finals week. Is there extra anxiety this year?
Bellarmine seniors Mia Filand, Max Walker, and Westly Moran were interviewed on how they feel about the upcoming finals. All of the students said the transition back to school has been good and they all enjoy being with their peers and teachers.
Moran and Filand both said that a downside of being back at school is that they have less time to complete work and cannot do it on their own time. When asked about how they felt about online finals all the responses were positive. Max Walker said, “I felt a lot less stress being at home away as it was more of a low stress environment.”
When asked about the upcoming in-person finals responses were less enthusiastic. Filand said, “Finals are going to be a lot of work that I am no longer used to and I am going to have to relearn how to study after online school.”
Moran said, “I don’t feel like teachers have helped prepare students enough for the transition back to in-person finals”.
Are students going to crack on the pressure of going back to in-person finals? Should Bellarmine have done more to help students prepare? These questions will all be answered after we see how students perform this semester after being used to online school.
