Staff Spotlight: Physics teacher John Chase goes ‘Beyond School Hours’
It’s a well-known fact that the dedicated Bellarmine faculty and staff members work above and beyond contractual hours. Sometimes they get to attend events which are even called that.
Physics teacher John Chase attended the “Beyond School Hours” professional development conference from Feb. 9 to 12 in Orlando, FL.
Chase shared his experience. “The conference I attended is called Beyond School Hours. This conference focuses on student education support and enrichment through after school programs and co-curriculars. This conference brings educators from across the country and world to one space in which expertise and experiences can be shared to best support learners of all ages. The keynote speaker for this year’s conference was Sonia Manzano, better known as Maria from Sesame Street. Workshops varied from how to use pre-prepared clips to enhance lessons to how to create digital spaces for students to present and share their work alongside courses on how to gamify classes, leverage community businesses to fundraise, and more.”
