David Añel is beyond excited to return to The Lion Staff for the 2024-2025 year! This year’s Executive Editor for Digital Media, Añel can’t wait to represent student life—in and out of the classroom—with broadcasts, interviews, and editorials. He will oversee the team’s design projects and video productions, stirring the pot each 4th period at a time. At school, Añel can be found micromanaging robotics leadership, tutoring new Mandarin students, or struggling to choose a font for a design commission. Outside of school, not much else. He’s ready to collaborate and create with this year’s talented team.

Gwen Hobson is a senior and is so excited to be a member of the Lion Journalism Staff this year. She is a creative, imaginative, and deeply involved individual who hopes to shine light on the incredible things going on in the Bellarmine community. Hobson is a student leader in the Drama Department and has taken on the roles of actor, writer, director, producer, and crew member during her time at Bellarmine. Outside of school, Hobson does arts advocacy work at TeenTix and works with organizations such as The 5th Avenue Theatre, ACT Contemporary Theatre, Seattle Rep, and more. She spends her free time reading a good book, listening to music, spending time with friends and family, and watching movies.

Grace Miller is thrilled to be joining the Journalism Staff as a junior this year. Outside of journalism, Miller can be found playing softball, reviewing the local food scene on Instagram, or participating in Model UN. She is very excited to explore the climate and culture not only at Bellarmine, but on the global scale. Miller has always been interested in journalism, and is elated to have the opportunity to write for The Lion!

Marie Wiegman is thrilled to be a part of the Lion Journalism Staff this year as a junior. As a varsity cross country and track team captain, robotics team member, lector, Marine Chem student, Ignited by the Holy Spirit leader, and member of LINK crew, Wiegman is excited to further understand the multitude of aspects of the Bellarmine community. Outside of school you can find Wiegman attending baseball games, finding new coffee shops, and on the beautiful trails of the Pacific Nothwest.

Liv Toohey is very excited to be joining The Lion Journalism team as a junior. On campus you can find her attending multiple club meetings. During her spare time, she enjoys painting outside, going on runs with her dog, reading, hiking, thrifting with her friends, as well as going to concerts and attending other events around Tacoma.

For her senior year at Bellarmine, Alice Malebranche is dedicated to her role on Journalism Staff as Executive Editor of Composition. Usually found in a classroom, Malebranche can also be found on a field, court, chapel, a cafe, or the ACE. This year she is directly involved with Bellarmine by playing Lacrosse, serving as Head Eucharistic Minister, acting as a Forefront Suidide Prevention Peer Leader, and Bellarmine MUN club leadership. On the side, rather than just loving to write, Malebranche loves to talk. Whether it be practicing another language, being in Model UN, cheering on at Friday Night Lights, or chatting with friends, she’s always talking. One last year on The Lion Staff is an honor that Malebranche takes on with glee.
