Did you know that Bellarmine hosts a Dungeons and Dragons Club every Friday after school? Now you may have heard of D&D, as it’s typically called, but have no clue what it is.
Dungeons and Dragons is a Tabletop Roleplaying game in which Player Characters (PCs) interact with the world the Dungeon Master (DM) creates. It typically focuses on a high fantasy setting filled to the brim with magical spells, dungeons, and most importantly, adventure! Combat, exploration, and magical creatures are all key elements of the experience. The only limit is your imagination and creativity, as either a PC or a DM.
Fair warning, D&D comes with a lot of learning and understanding of the system, but worry not as this club is always open to new members, experts and novices alike.
So, what does the creation of a Player Character look like? Well, first you pick a race (Human, elf, orc, etc) and a class (Rogue, Monk, Sorcerer, etc). From there you build a background and personality to role play as in the DM’s world. Remember, the sky’s the limit!
Dungeon Masters are a different story, usually reserved for more experienced members, but if you’re up for the challenge, anyone can DM. They are essentially the creators of the world as they build every dungeon, town, and giant enemy spider PCs come across.
Sessions are every Friday from 2:45 p.m. to 5 p.m. in S-111. If you’re ever curious, feel free to pop on by and enjoy the community. If you’re itching for more info, D&D and Beyond is a great place to start for character and world building alike.
