Each year, juniors and seniors get ready to attend prom. Prom brings excitement, dancing, dinner, photos and memories. This year, prom was a topic for talk amongst the school. With new activities such as mini golf, a drink bar, new decorations, prom Junior Prince and Princess, Senior Queen and King, and a new DJ, the May 9 prom was a big change from years past.
According to many others who attended prom last year, it has been said that prom this year was more attended than last year. There was more involvement and excitement built around it. However, students have also said that there needs to be some involvement.
When talking to multiple students many said comments about the music, the DJ, and the sound system.
Junior Leah Lim said, “I think the music should be improved next time. They should play the playlist and make it easier to hear, because when they were announcing the prom court I couldn’t hear anything.”
Along with that, Junior Pearl Henson stated, “I think that the layout could be improved. I think that there was just a lot of extra space and the DJ wasn’t loud enough.”
Prom this year had its ups and its downs with many fun and exciting things but also some disappointments when it came to the music and the dancing.
Junior Nicole Schwartz stated, “What went well was that people stayed for a long time. I feel like at the end of the dance there were a good amount of people that stayed compared to last year.” Last year, barely anyone stayed at the dance and mostly left within the first 20 minutes. So, a huge success this year was the turnout and the attendance of the dance. Mainly due to prom royalty, many students stayed until 9:30 p.m. and even the very end of the dance.
With the mini golf being a huge hit, the outside game area that allowed a fresh breath of air, and the refreshing drink bar, prom this year had so many amazing features that deeply improved the dance.
So, even though there was some disappointment towards the music and the DJ, there was such fun and success with the prom court, the turnout of students, and the drink bar.
After the fun festivities this year, look forward to seeing the new and exciting features of future proms and hope to have more fun and exciting new memories.
