Back to school can be the best, or worst, time of the year. For some, it is a return to a world of knowledge, friendship, and opportunity. For others, being forced into a routine of homework and waking up to another day of work. If the latter (or former, for that matter) applies to you, here are some things you can do to start off the school strong and maintain that throughout the year.

Stay organized. Maintaining separate binders and folders for each class can be incredibly helpful. Do your A-day homework on A-days and so on for B-days. Getting a planner also helps you keep on track and make sure you know what you have to do.

Don’t forget self care! Remember to try for 7-9 hours of sleep nightly. If you try to make this into a routine, it will be much easier as time goes on. Furthermore, be sure to set time for yourself. Read, watch tv, play with your pets. Be sure to not forget your friends too!

Be flexible. Now that a new school year has started, it’s the perfect time to try something new. Try branching out to people you’ve never talked to before, joining a club, or even going to home football games on Fridays!

Finally, set goals for the year. Do you want to make more friends? Grow closer to the ones you have? Try for a 4.0 first semester? Whatever your goals may be, a fantastic idea can be to put them into writing so you can hold yourself accountable to them.

With these tips in mind, it should be easy to own the school year.
