Bellarmine Prep has a long and rich history of athletic prowess and individual success. With professional athlete alumni like Malachi Flynn, Jon Lester and Abdul Gaddy, it is clear that Bellarmine is, and continues to be, a powerhouse for producing incredible athletes. The athletes of the senior class have continued this reputation, as 14 athletes are currently committed to compete in a sport during college. So where are these seniors headed next year?
Of the 14 athletes currently committed or signed, six are attending Division I universities. These athletes include All American lacrosse player Joey Bambrick, who will be playing at the University of Notre Dame, Madi Munguia, who will be playing goalkeeper at the University of Alabama, Sydney Bland, who will be on the women’s rowing team at Gonzaga, Alison Whalen who will be on the track and field team at Boise State, Ava Borsheim who is competing on the track and field team at the University of Portland, and Jagger Judkins who is committed to play soccer at the University of San Francisco. All six of these athletes have spent countless hours training in order to reach this level.
In addition to the six athletes headed to Division I schools, there are also two athletes competing at the Division II level. These athletes include Malia Salema who is signed to Regis University in Colorado to play on the women’s soccer team and Beaux Akiona who is committed to Southern Nazarene University in Oklahoma. Akiona will be competing on the men’s soccer team.
Six more athletes are committed to Division III schools.
