Spring is in bloom and so is good weather, tees times, fresh greens, and that feeling of listening to birds chirping hoping for a birdie.
With this spring season occurring, you can’t help but notice that there has been a frenzy full of golf. Everyone you know, talking about golf, wearing golf polos, and coordinating tee times.
The world of golf has always been popular, however, recently there has been such a rise in golf. Golf is taking over with almost everyone you know getting into golf. So, that raises the question, why golf?
Golf, while being a relatively expensive and time consuming sport, has such popularity over a wide dynamic of people. Youth playing in golf tournaments, teenagers playing golf after school on a sunny day, and especially the adults and elderly bonding over clubs and good company.
Junior Uhjin Barrett stated, “Golf is a gradual improvement sport, you are just waiting and practicing to get better. When you grow up, golf is a necessary skill to have for connections, and it is fun to do with friends.”
Junior Andrew Callies said, “It’s a nice chill sport where you can have fun with friends. Golf is just a big community that brings each other together.”
Golf is usually a sport where you can play young or old and enjoy it at both times in your life. It’s a sport where you don’t need extreme physical pressure on the joints which makes it very accessible for all age groups. Golf is known as an extremely good source of bonding and connections. Meeting with a business associate, or someone you never know, you are there for 6 plus hours bonding over the sport.
While asking junior Brady Liloc, he said, “Golf is one of those things where people can go out and have a fun time with their friends and it’s something you can do for the rest of your life. A lot of older people play golf, and you can use it as your connection towards them.”
Golf is going to continue to gain more popularity and inspire so many people to pick up clubs for the first time. As we see from just Bellarmine students alone, golf is such an essential and joyful sport that will benefit and serve you for the rest of your life.
